The HAFM Series of active multipliers is available in models ranging from 20 to 100 GHz.
A combination of MMIC and discrete varactor diodes are used to realize the various models. Multiplication factors from X2 up to X6 provide the customer with design flexibility for many applications. Basic multiplier circuits can be cascaded to achieve higher order multiplication factors.
Each multiplier contains a voltage regulator and bias sequencer allowing the use of a single bias voltage to p power the amplifier, saving the user the complication of providing this circuitry.
Active multipliers are often used in LO chains in radars and communication systems, allowing the use of low phase noise frequency sources at lower frequencies. Multipliers also find use in frequency extenders for test equipment.
